Our mechanically defatted sunflower protein is produced by cold-pressing hulled sunflower kernels at high pressure to extract the maximum oil fraction, followed by milling and classification of the residual press cake to concentrate protein and reduce hull and fibre content. No chemical solvents are used at any stage.

The resulting concentrate contains 50–65% protein on a dry-matter basis, with a residual oil of 3–8%. The protein fraction is predominantly albumins and globulins, with a balanced amino acid profile relative to other plant proteins. Methionine is the primary limiting amino acid.

Sunflower protein is increasingly favoured in food formulation as an alternative to soy protein — it is non-GMO, allergen-friendly for most consumers (no soy, no gluten, no nuts in the conventional sense), and has neutral-to-mild flavour. It functions well in protein bars, meat analogues, bakery enrichment, and sports nutrition powders.

Yes. Mechanically defatted sunflower protein is fully plant-based, non-GMO, and free from the major allergens (no soy, no gluten, no dairy). It is widely used in vegan sports nutrition and meat-alternative products.
Sunflower protein is relatively low in lysine compared to soy but stronger in methionine. For complete amino acid coverage, it is often blended with pea or soy protein. Detailed amino acid profiles are available on request.
