Solvent-Free, Cold-Press Extraction
Unlike conventional soy or canola proteins that rely heavily on harsh chemical solvents like hexane to extract oil, our sunflower protein is exclusively mechanically defatted. We cold-press hulled sunflower kernels at high pressure to expel the oil fraction. The remaining press cake is expertly milled, sifted, and classified to concentrate the globulins and albumins, resulting in a perfectly clean, chemical-free protein powder with only 3–8% residual oil.
Amino Acid Profile & Vegan Blending
Sunflower protein is an exceptional alternative to soy or whey, appealing to the rapidly growing hypoallergenic and vegan markets. It boasts a mild, neutral-to-nutty flavour that requires significantly less masking agents in sports powders. While it is incredibly rich in sulfur-containing amino acids like methionine and cysteine, it is slightly limited in lysine. For formulations requiring a 100% complete PDCAAS score, our sunflower protein blends perfectly with pea protein (which is high in lysine) to create the ultimate hypoallergenic plant protein matrix.
